I have the good fortune of working closely with two of the top video production studios in all of Ontario…
Through the strong alliances I have formed with these two companies, I’ve learned a little bit about what it takes to become a true video professional and what ingredients are needed to produce exceptional web videos. Although recent advancements in technology have indeed made video production more affordable for the average business owner, it’s still very much like any technical service business, you get what you pay for.
So besides the obvious factors (natural talent, a passion for the work and having the right equipment), what are some other specifics that make an effective company video?
- Watch Your Length
The reason online promotional videos are becoming increasingly popular as a business marketing tool is due to their ability to deliver a lot of information in a short amount of time. Generally speaking an online video shouldn’t run more than 2-3 minutes. Anything more than that and you’ve defeated the purpose of having the video produced.
- Keep Them Entertained
Even if your video falls into the proper length guidelines, if it’s boring to watch, people will be looking for the red X like your website is a treasure map! Pick up the tempo but don’t rush, and incorporate visually pleasing (yet not distracting) animations to give your video some life.
- Ensure Clear Audio
There’s nothing more detrimental to a promotional video than poor quality audio. If your viewers are struggling to hear the words being said, you’ve lost them. This is one of the main reasons to enlist a professional video production company. They will have the proper equipment and knowledge needed to provide proper quality audio in your videos.
- Bells & Whistles
Another great benefit of working with a professional studio? Just the right amount of bells and whistles. There needs to be some animation and ‘spice’ in your video to keep the viewers attention, but like any good chef knows, overdoing the spices can ruin a meal.
